Apple seeded developers this week with the first new builds of Mac OS X 10.5 and Mac OS X Server 10.5 since its Worldwide Developers Conference in early June. neocitron: looking nice… but i don’t use half the preinstalled Apple apps… so them telling me about the new iChat is useless to me.
I’m kind of hoping for speed improvements and maybe a something to make the finder a little more of a breeze… the breadcrumbs feature in the finder so you can see where every file is buried sounds good… but nothing earth shattering.Stacks look ok.. i’m fairly organized so i thinkn i’ll be fine without.
please tell me there is a merge feature instead of an overwrite only in the finder… PLEASE
I want Apple to reinvent OS X and the desktop interface… i hope they’re not scared to.
Gordo0852: I really hope they also make CDs and networking more stable. If I have an unresponsive CD or server, it may bring my whole system down (or at least finder) =(
NeoRicen: Looks great, i just hope they change their minds on the blue glowing thing and go back to the arrows, much simpler and elegant. I also love the little things Apple does, like the speech bubble type style of the right click menu. I’m just glad pinstripes and brush metal are gone for good.
I prefer the current system preferences icon though.

akhomerun: I just hope they let you adjust the transparency level of the menu bar. And besides little weirdities with the dock, it still amazes me how incredible Apple’s UI people are, I don’t see how everyone else manages to pale in comparison.

tech10171968: I have always been, and always will be, a diehard Linux fanboy. But even I will admit that when it comes to design and just plain GUI goodness, Apple just flat out kicks EVERYBODY’S asses, game over.
