First Third-party Native iPhone App Now Available (Pic & video)

August 3, 2007

yokozukaGoogle Code has now the first third-party native application ever for the iPhone. A real, full-fledged iPhone application with a graphic user interface and its own icon in the iPhone home screen. Yes, this is not a Web 2.0 app but the Real Thing™, as you can see in the picture and in the video demonstration.[...] Thanks to yokozuka for providing this nice story on Digg (more than 884Diggs).

What other users say about this:

SteveNojobs: Jesus Phone?

Jesus would rather have an iPoor.com

rebotfc: vote for an irc client

blackjack75: Now when do we get a port from some Open Source VOIP client? AT&T’s gonna be so pissed.

pinheadj: I’ll throw another vote on a port of ScummVM. I’d love to play some Day of the Tentacle on this thing.

Icebird: Finally real progress in the iPhone hacking community. Hopefully this will stop useless efforts at unlocking the iPhone, and more at creating applications for it.

iStunT: 2 words… Fucking Dugg.

HouseCentipede: After the jump… Chocolate Rain!

cyberprashant: Keep up-to-date with the latest i-Phone news the same way I found this story. With TechTray version 2.0 - a FREE RSS Feed reader on your windows tray. I entered “iphone” as my search and it keeps scanning all my feeds for iPhone stories and bookmarks them for review later. Not just Digg but all 16 tech sites that come preloaded with techtray (customizable) http://www.kliktray.com/techtray

Stevanoski: I’m waiting until the first native american phone comes online.

PathDaemon: I have this installed on a friend’s iPhone, and it’s actually pretty awesome. Works exactly like it should. Smooth, stable, and well-integrated into the phone (with the sliding keyboard, bump scrolling, etc.) Props.

wilhoitm: Does vi work?

kethraal: “Thank you Apple for not delivering anything new but repackaging your old garbage!”

Yeah. Fuck Apple. They just repacked their existing phone and PDA into this….

Oh…

Well fuck me if I don’t look stupid.

CATSCEO: WTF happened to the icons of the other apps?

JimmyIkon: To the iphone haters. Say something constructive like “the iphone sucks.” and add “because…”

It’s like the people who say fords or chevys suck. They both make good cars, true some are better, but if you showed a cave man a chevy or a ford i’m sure he’d be impressed.

If you take away the hype, it’s a nice pice of hardware with lots of potential.

CATSCEO: Sweet.

Best Mac Ad

ali1979Even Bill Gates could get behind this[...] Thanks to ali1979 for providing this nice story on Digg (more than 17Diggs).

What other users say about this:

Digitalfilm43: Yeah, but how long does her internal battery last for?

ali1979: Damn cryptonight boy did somebody hurt your feeling because they didn’t digg your comment. BURN!

cryptonight: Someone please tell me why my first comment was dugg down. Did my words hurt the Mac Fan Boys. The best part of Oregon Trail was hunting and navigating down the Snake River. That at most was 1/10 of the whole game. So Civilization plus Oregon Trail gives us 1.1 good games for the Mac. Have a sense of humor. Maybe Jobs will come out with the iHumor (for a low $299) so you guys can have a laugh.

ali1979: Steamboatkatie….. now that is the target audience we are looking for!! Glad you enjoyed please come back again, anytime!

SteamboatKatie: OMG idblogthat.com ROCKS!!

gemini8200: Slightly NSFW

cryptonight: Mac has always emphasized on looks. I bet she expects a lot from her men and doesn’t play games.

I just got my iPhone back from Apple and… LOL

kmjmuMacGyver and Apple both know a good tool when they see one. Check out the “Official iPhone Tool” they included with my warranty service packet.[...] Thanks to kmjmu for providing this nice story on Digg.

What other users say about this:

CuriousRead: Yeah try having a family plan along with and iphone bill.. it comes in a box.

theluisdotcom: http://digg.com/apple/Open_Source_iClip_SVN_established_on_Google_Code/

vol872791: You already had to send in your iPhone for service? That’s pretty shitty.

IpwnZnoobs: I thought this was funny, especial that windows 97 had “1337″ diggs

kjcdude: LOL he’s selling it on eBay, it’s up at $42 so far.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290146083291

TsaSzymborska: The funniest part is that there are weirdos who want to pay 40 $ for it.

Carnage85: ok its fact that THIS IS STOLEN FROM MICROSOFT!!!
Microsoft got the Clip longer! xD

Crazytree: 7k diggs because apple sent you a paper clip in the mail?

does this make up for the fact that your phone broke in the first week and had to be mailed in for repairs?

Seaton: BUT WAIT!!! Theres…. One More Thing…

AnnaBay21: I wonder if that was a hint :-)

Doaner: This cracked me up. I once took in my powerbook because the power cord broke in the laptop. They used a paperclip to fix it. I’ll stop laughing next week.

canthraxp: Steve Jobs: It’s a paper-based documents storage device. And can hold.. Eight, kazillion, papers. EIGHT, kazillion, papers.

levyjl1988: I e-mailed apple, mine is on it’s way!

dimplemonkey: Guess the mafiosos at Apple took care of Clippy and his family!

buildmorerobots: Hilarious, could it have been a joke.

iMac MultiTouch concept @[youtube]

August 3, 2007

dbalieiro[info@youtube] ———————This was a quick 3 day project for my 3D reel. Not trying to reinvent the iMac, just making a concept Ad.more info at www.dogsolitude9.com/imac———————[...] Thanks to dbalieiro for providing this nice story on Digg (more than 1590Diggs).

What other users say about this:

zimmik: I love the idea, and your design is almost better than Apples :). I hope, that Apple have some “spion’s” on Digg :)

henriklied: The design is simply *lovely*, though!

Billions: The rumors are pointing towards a multitouch mouse surface, right? Allowing you to zoom in and out with the pinching motion on the top of your mouse… I’ll admit that the days after I got my iPhone, I would have slight subconcious urges to reach and touch my computer’s monitor to zoom in, immediately realizing Apple has introduced (to the buying public*, at least) a new interface paradigm… the zoom-in or slide/shove motion with gesture on the surface. Although using it on a nearly vertical screen would get exhausting and annoying, it’s still something I want as an option… Somehow.

*Don’t bother flaming me about Xerox PARC labs, the Microsoft video with multitouch on a big dumb table, the amazing multitouch ‘paint/map’ youtube sensation before that… I said _buying_ public, as in “Apple made it available to consumers,” like they did with GUI, the mouse, the trackpad… And multitouch on the iPhone. I’m not arguing who thought it up in concept, I’m talking about who made it so we could go buy it.

hellotyler: screw multitouch, i just want a flatscreen sized tv imac… hell yeah that looked sweet

sniperboy67: As long as its not windows

iMaciMan1: What about a regular computer/multitouch hybrid? you fold the bottom of the computer towards you and the front goes away from you (if that makes any sense) and put it back when you’re done. i would love to see an imac that looked like that

PAPAsoMEAN: wonder if it comes with wipers

didd: So.. Sexy.

shibbz: I could see this product being very ‘Minority Report-esque’

shibbz: Dugg for The Doors’ song.

dcpweb: Hi,

I like your video, quick and simple, allways the best.

Well done…

p shah - http://www.dcpweb.co.uk

jimv1983: The idea sounds stupid. Dirty screen. Tired arms. Don’t even like Mac. But with all that aside I must say nice job on the commercial

cricoste90: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fwFjjz2BUaY
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7WIkrQu0-v0

bamiller3: I would like to try it before making any judgments on it’s usability.

laeger: Dude, I don’t care what any of these naysayers think. That thing is friggin cool-lookin.

Man Goes Through Vasectomy to Get iPhone

August 3, 2007

omegazWell.. I’d rather..[...] Thanks to omegaz for providing this nice story on Digg (more than 1433Diggs).

What other users say about this:

jLadd5: Wow. He must have REALLY wanted a iPhone.

micromause: Better title: “Man Cuts Off Balls For Apple”. Idiot.

Link459: Wow… moron.

IceJelly: OMFG ouch, but he should have [insert smart ass penis comment to get more diggs here]

OP100: Daycare costs for 1 child for first 5 years. ~$36,000…or…60 8gb iPhones

DocStone: Dude…cut it out.

tanto: Unfortunately, vasectomy reversals aren’t cheap! A vasectomy reversal is a complicated procedure and the price reflects that. Having your vasectomy reversed could see you facing a medical bill of $4,000 to $20,000.

How Much Will A Vasectomy Reversal Cost You?
http://orangtuamurid.info/blog/?p=430

craiger316: Wow, so when I’ve asked every guy I know who owns a Mac how they paid for it, you know, did they pay for it with their testicles because surely they wouldn’t need them after owning a Mac, I find out people really do just that…

purplehelium: at least he’ll save lots of money on stripper bills

RobotCitizen: It used to be enough for women to just emasculate their men verbally.

eyefork: I dont see why everyones calling him stupid, the couple had apparently discussed a vasectomy before this (”willing to finally make that appointment”) and this was just their way of getting the husband to finally do it. I have a feeling a lot of people are confusing vasectomies with castration, so FYI you still have all your goods, and your libido and abilities to erect and ejaculate are in the same shape, but you dont have to worry about getting someone pregnant, you are sterile. I dont see how thats a bad thing?

Icklehamsta: Uh..you do realise he was supposed to be getting it done anyway? He had just been delaying the appointment as much as he could…

TheSageBush: PWNED.

Reaktor5: …and you guys made fun of the Zune-Tattoo guy.

pyrates: Now these are the type of Apple Fan Boys that piss me off. You can bet that they will try to twist any security vulnerability that is in an Apple product as not being Apple’s fault. They are biasness to the extreme.
