August 6, 2007First third-party “game” app appears for iPhone
August 6, 2007
It would seem that the first-ever iPhone game has been written and is available to download to your Jail-broken device, and true to the natural form of the Microsoft vs. Apple debate, it’s all based around blowing up Zunes.[...] Thanks to saber134 for providing this nice story on Digg (more than 37Diggs).

Niomi: I didn’t realize .mac customers actually existed.
beggersfunk: About fucking time…
yeahbuddy: Just make .mac free with the option to purchase additional storage…bam, instant enrollments.
It’s just too overpriced in this googleworld.
Samtheman007: I am thinking possibly Time Machine support may be coming and they are getting ready for leopard. maybe?
CATSCEO: A .Mac/iApps and Gmail/Google Apps merger would be interesting.
dalesmatrix: Wasn’t there going to be a feature released with 10.5 that allows you to access your computer remotely through .mac? I wonder if this update is anything to do with that.
akatsuki: I want them to port everything over to re-skinned (and somewhat Ajaxified) google apps (gmail, google calendar, etc…), add 2-way syncing, and add a lot more storage.
Wilddigi: All these rumors and speculations. The only thing I see that is shipping in 3 weeks (delayed) is the Apple Keyboard.
LynchMOB: How is Apple going to have a media event tomorrow WITHOUT the media? Did I miss something? Did the usual cryptic invites go out to the media VIP’s and I missed that digg store?
toetagger: : )
fanclerks: I’d sure like some sort of update to .Mac tomorrow. Give me a reason to buy it Apple, come on… givae me a really good reason.
FKnight: Maybe it’s just system maintenance.
How to turn Spotlight OFF (and ON Again)….
August 6, 2007
Mac users: If Spotlight gets in your way, you can disable it permanently. Tech blog N.E.R.D. details how you can shutdown Spotlight for good — and turn it back on again if you change your mind.[...] Thanks to interg12 for providing this nice story on Digg (more than 22Diggs).
What other users say about this:
Dog_Paddle: If you just want to get rid of the menu bar icon, move Search.bundle from /System/Library/CoreServices/ to somewhere else, preferably a spot where you won’t forget where it is. The Spotlight in finder will still work, just the useless (imo) icon in the menu bar will be gone.

Apple Debits Money From the Wrong Account, Now You Can’t Pay Your Mortgage
August 6, 2007
Julie would really like to pay her mortgage, but she can’t. Why not? Because when she tried to help her son buy a MacBook, Apple decided to debit $1517.27 from her account without permission. When she called to tell them they’d pulled the money from the wrong card, causing her account to over draft, they apologized, but then debited another $186…[...] Thanks to notorious. for providing this nice story on Digg (more than 898Diggs).
What other users say about this:
tmcdigg: I’ll make this short and sweet. Another reason NOT to buy crapple products.
ohcoaster: anyone blaming the woman in this situation is either an idiot or an apple fan boy.
Menoats: Serves her right. She should of just gotten some cash from the ATM and given it to her son so he could deposit it into his account. Its not rocket science. She tried putting apple through hell and apple robbed her, Niiiiiiiice.
LunaticFringe: Apple has been screwing up a lot like this recently, and it’s been heavily affecting peoples lives. I personally feel they should fix their lower branches and ensure this kind of thing doesn’t repeat, or in the event that they do not, GTFO.
RedX117: I completely agree with atrizk! If I could I would digg his/her comment a million times. It’s wrong to fucking blame her! She didn’t plan on having all that money taken and she didn’t plan on missing her morgage payment. And it sure as hell could have happened even if she used a credit card. The bottom line is that she expected he transaction to be done correctly and Appple straight up screwed her. SO QUIT FUCKING BLAMING HER! …..KUDOS TO ATRIZK!
investr: Steve,
Give the kids a laptop, pay her house off.
PR 101
atrizk: This story is retarded, you people are retarded and apple fucked up. First of all Apple 100% fucked up, I love apple I have a mac mini, macbook, g3 tower, powerbook, and 4 iPods, but no matter which way you sliced it apple is at fault. Now i dont know about the rest of you but I think losing $1600 sucks, however the lady is going about rectifying the situation the wrong way. Yes she used her debit card, but the way the story is written it sounds like she ran it as credit, this gives her all of the same benefits as using a regular credit card so the first thing she should do is dispute the charges. It is true she agreed to pay for the computer and she did receive the computer, but she did not agree to pay $3300 for the computer so all charges should be disputed immediately. Unfortunately in a corporate world the consumer is not a trusted party in the purchasing relationship every computer company will make mistakes and as a consumer it will be a pain in the ass to rectify generally it will be best if you let the bank deal with the company in resolving the issue, generally the will free up the money in dispute which would allow this lady to pay or mortgage or buy 5 llamas, or whatever the hell else she wants to do with HER MONEY. I say fuck all you people for questioning the way she spends HER MONEY, my only warning to her is that yes apple made a mistake but if she wants to resolve it directly with them I am sure it will eventually get fixed but it will take time.
Oh yeah, lady writing a letter directly to Steve Jobs is a little over dramatic. It is good to put any disputes in writing, but I’m sure the accounting department would have still read it if addressed to whom it may concern.
roberts3000: buy an apple, get used to it
whiteyMcBrown: People need to stop talking shit about this woman, first of all… It was a problem on Apple’s end with the billing. Secondly, people don’t need to bash Apple for it either. This is a business, like any other, and people can make errors. The woman should be refunded and given an apology, and Apple should look into what exactly went wrong and fix it. That’s all.. The comments in here are friggin’ outrageous. Like a clerical error should bring down a company, or someone shouldn’t be able to pay however they want to…. Assholes.
FriedApple: Yes, Apple has to have HER $1600 or they will go out of business. That is why they won’t refund quickly. Oh yeah, you can’t pay your mortgage but you have FIVE iPods? Sorry lady but you need to think about your priorities. Buried as lame.
whosyourdiggdad: … seriously, her mortgage isn’t even late until it’s more than 15 days after the due date. Someone read your mortgage note… even after 15 days she’ll get hit with a 5% late fee and it’s not really really late until the 1st of the next month.
tubeblender: i care
/sarcasm
whibler: That women needs to learn proper period usage.
mukund: I wonder what this page might look like if we replace Apple with microsoft in the Story.

blacklilyninja: i am an apple user…. its all her fault
jk
seriously .. apple should refund her… with interest.. add bank charges, give a macbookpro to every family member (loaded of course). Give her a reason not to sue them. then send me a quadcore tower for my trouble of having to say… “seriously .. apple should refund her… with interest.. add bank charges, give a macbookpro to every family member (loaded of course). The Next-Gen iMac Mock-up (PIC)

kyuuseishu: This looks a bit like the real one with the glossy screen and the black.

rabbott: if i see one more damn graphic with a reflection like a fucking product form factor or an image like it’s miraculously floating on water…i’m going rip my eye’s out of their sockets just to keep my head from exploding.
dugg, looking forward to 10AM PST
thedragon4453: While I like the iPhone, I really dont want to see every piece of Apple hardware to come out look like it.
whiteyMcBrown: I think it’s really nice looking. I’ll just be glad if they manage to take some of that chin away. I was never a big fan. I don’t hate it as much as some, though.. I mean, it’s just a little extra white at the bottom of a screen (and that’s it… that’s the whole computer).. But still.. I guess with a company like Apple, making wicked looking stuff all the time, we’ve come to expect excellence. I can’t think of another company whose design is held up to this kind of scrutiny or standard. Most tvs (besides Sony’s, IMO) wouldn’t hold up.. No PC cases that I’ve ever seen would, even luxury car companies have misses, sometimes.
bretto: That thing is ugly, but seeing as there are so many iPhone lovers…
zdiggler: Who cares, you can’t add shit to it.
Not made for GEEKs
Made for people who likes pretty things.
PANTONE285: That is infinitely more beautiful than what apple will release. The maker of that mock up is a god.
aquadoguk: I sure hope it doesn’t have the iSight where iPhone’s Camera is…
pauldy: Digg needs a site filter so I can just plug Gizmodo into it and not be lured into yet another of their lamo pages. As it is I already end up in politics because they can’t seem to get that whole remember me flag right.
rowlodge: i want one that comes with topless girls.
wigren: I was going to digg this for the lolcats-like reference. But, now I’m thinking bury. Why does Apple have to hop on every thing hip. Like my goddamn little brother….
malliemcg: That is going to suck badly for use in an office, or anywhere there are lights to reflect of the shiny edges distracting you from reading what is on the screen. Ever wondered why most bezels are matte and quite often darker colours?
ReinMasamuri: Well first of all, if they make one of these they shouldn’t make them stand upright, but make them into a sort of “lap” computer.
Second, why the fuck do people keep posting these bullshit mockups? And why the fuck do people keep digging peoples thinly veiled attempts at broadcasting their (mediocre) P40+0540p skillz
houndeyex: SWEET WE CAN MAKE AN LCD MONITOR! GO US.
