iPhone 1.1.1 “bug” unleashes music over Bluetooth

September 29, 2007

FameMoneyThe iPhone 1.1.1 update has a hidden little surprise for y’all: Bluetooth audio streaming is now available off of your iPhone for whatever you darn please, meaning you can finally listen to music from the phone wirelessly.[...] Thanks to FameMoney for providing this nice story on Digg.

What other users say about this:

SquidProQuo: Any idea if the IPod Touch is going to get the same treatment? Or does it have Bluetoooth in it at all?

xandifenn: perfect for the iphone music app
http://seeqpod.com/iphone

llsethj: AOLEngadget are fuckers. They cut and paste an Apple insider story and publish it as their own then submit it to Digg.

kelchm: I don’t know that unleashes is exactly the right word to describe mono bluetooth audio.

kmotiv1: 1.1.1 fixed my screen “polka dots”. Everybody is bitching about all the things it locked down, but it definitely fixed a few items as well. I’m surprised that no one else mentioned this at all. We’re a bunch of whiny bastards.

pileofstraw: personally, I’ve never seen nor touch a iphone yet and for some reason, I’ll stick with my pager.

SirZRX: the iphone bluetooth chipset supports A2DP, but is capped by software…what a shame

p51d007: LMAO……….wait until apple and steve “blow” jobs pushes out another patch to take that away…..THEN charge you to
put it back in. Love him or hate him…he’s smart when it comes to marketing. Hell, he should have been a crack dealer.
GIVE it away to get you dumbasses hooked, then take it away and charge you out the ass for it.

colonels1020: Apple: “That’s not a bug, it’s a feature.”

GREEDOnvrFIRED: For crying out loud why do we constantly have to hear about the freaking iPhone. Oh because it is a compelling, ever changing piece of amazing technology that remains interesting even 3 months after its introduction? oh ok.

seahaven: this iphone story is disturbing me, we dont have it yet here in our country and it is always on digg….

fuxjoey: I thought bluetooth is not built-in. So how is it possible?

daxsymbiont: who fucking cares about iphone. a fucking 100 dollar motorola or nokia can play mp3s.

zmigliozzi: And everyone laughed at the zune for sharing music over bluetooth.

mikesbaker: wow apple finally got something you can do with most other new phones

Man has iMac replaced three times, emails Steve Jobs and gets a free iPod

September 29, 2007

muffinsincreamHe had his iMac replaced 2 and had a problem with the third. He decided to email Steve Jobs because of this and he gets a free iPod.[...] Thanks to muffinsincream for providing this nice story on Digg.

What other users say about this:

greenawlives: So how much was this blogger paid to write this “anecdote”?

idigit: God dammit, I had my iMac replaced twice (3 computers) and all I got was lip from the Apple support staff.

Oh well.

Bitaemo: Awwww, I wish my Macbook Pro would break so I can get a free Nano. :-( Time to find Mr. Screwdriver!

bobnease: I love this! I’ve never had a bad experience with Apple Customer Service, and this tells me a lot about their company.

carl25: wait

so he didn’t get his imac back ?

chesss: Ahhh!
the joys being filthy rich..

StiGUP: “Seems Apple really does care about its customers a great deal. I think I’ve just fallen in love with a fruit ;) .”

is he talking about the guy he talked to …or the apple itself?

jabberwolf: Anything to keep their small number of customers. Steve must be desperate.

mu0p: wait a minutes.

I have a $3000 dollar alienware paperweight that only lasted 1 year, and the company refused to upgrade my warranty when i called 2 days after my previous warrenty ended. How would I get the contact of the Head of Alienware to discuss my matters?

hayden.evans: ive gone through 3 iphones and ive gotten jack crap

qpdb: What was wrong with his imac?

sixlaneve: Can I have Jobs email? My iBook was replaced 4 times… I want a free iPod too!

vacuum2440: i’ve always had a great experience with apple…they have the best customer care and thats why their customers are so loyal. If I were to start a business I would try to emulate their business strategy in terms of customer service completely. Btw I’m from Canada so yea they still care about their customers from the North.

TunaFishGangsta: FYI, the “Steve Jobs’ email account” is monitored by a high-level customer support staff. That would be cool though if he was personally responding to people.

betojf: whatever, Apple screws ipod customers…. specially those that bought games

Note to Apple: Stop thinking Like a Phone Company

September 29, 2007

alberto24Steve Jobs might be better served here to take his own advice and think different. Because, as he has so elegantly demonstrated with the iPhone, these devices are finally becoming little computers. So it shouldn’t be a surprise that consumers will expect them to act like computers. They will want to modify them to their exact, specifications.[...] Thanks to alberto24 for providing this nice story on Digg.

What other users say about this:

webmasterx: Well, as Tech Crunch said “That is why PC’s took over the world” History tends to repeat itself. Apple had everything in the 80’s to become today’s Microsoft but Steve Jobs miserably dropped the ball with his stubbornness. Microsoft copied what he was doing and took it to a whole new level. Do not be surprised if Microsoft comes up with an iphone equivalent shortly with more functionality and open to the world’s creativity to develop applications for.

jasorn: Er, Apple has ALWAYS thought like this. They’re even worse than MS when it comes to trying to control what they’re customers do with the thins they buy from them. Linux Baby!!

Windgat: I think you need to get over yourselves.

The iPhone is a device intended to be used as utility, intended by its designers. I take my hat off to Apple and Co for sticking it out for usability, innovation, and raising the bar on mobile devices – period.

While doing so, they are laying down the rules to do this in a protected and controllable environment. You’ve been warned not to mess with this device, now all the hackers are up in arms for being spanked by an upgrade.

Apple provides a great experience for the masses that do not want to hack, unlock, crack etc. I appreciate the fact that I can switch on all things Apple. It works. It is better designed, and it is user friendly (not necessarily hacker friendly).

Also, going up against the demi-gods of industry (Music and Telco) is not everyone’s cup of tea. I think Apple is doing a balancing act not because it chooses, but because it has to, to be allowed in the sandbox for a play.

So, suck it up. Enjoy what it has to offer, or get a Nokia and suffer the fate of having to deal with buggy, unfinished software (for years now)…

P.S. If you are upset about Apple making money, then get over that too. Buy some shares!!
Go Apple!

diggmediggyou: Oh! Only Nokia Communicator can call it Smartphone.

targetpro: word

genexyzration: Apple is issuing a recall of all broken iphones and will replace free of charge after signing an agreement not to sue apple over the updates that render the phone useless. (customer service advisory idea before its too late)

fragsta: Why do people keep sending “open letters” and “notes” to Apple giving business advice as if they’re some sort of marketing guru?

Ziziros: ya so im a big mac fan, but this is very true.
jobs has to look at the bigger picture – allow iphone users to do what they want, and the iphone will become much more popular.

Mizzike: lucky me, I don’t mind AT&T’s wireless service where I live and could care less about 3rd party apps for the most part. *yawn*

loudthing:

nlevy: This is such a shame. It doesn’t make any sense.

nickpowers101: Steve Jobs: Please release the iPhone in Canada.

onemillion: what happened to teh apple we once knew that gave a shit about its customers?

jesusfish12: if Apple doesn’t abide by some of the “phone company” policies, what phone company will want to market/use their product? if apple doesn’t have a market for their product, how will they make money? drrt.
