Well, what if Apple was waiting until someone unlocked the iPhone before releasing a ‘special’ update, and they’ve designed a way to make sure that only AT&T customers could update their iPhones and add these features? I am not saying Apple would necessarily “brick” an unlocked iPhone, but what if….[…] Thanks to CLIFFosakaJAPAN for providing this nice story on Digg (more than 44Diggs).

staticfish: This isn’t a very good ‘theory.’ Why? Because it’s knowledge, and basic fact that Apple and other companies have done exactly this in the past.
In fact it’s pretty obvious if you ask me, that when they patch the unlock, they will also add a couple of features due to the product life cycle anyway.
