Apple Chief Executive Steve Jobs has a problem: He’s taken Apple into the phone business with the iPhone. Yet he has to rely on partners such as AT&T and Starbucks to provide the wireless connections he needs to make those phones useful. For a control freak like Jobs, that’s not a pleasant situation[…] Thanks to CLIFFosakaJAPAN for providing this nice story on Digg.
What other users say about this:
F22Raptor: I think that Apple would go towards building a wimax/ wireless network rather than a cellular network. They should be partnering with sprint on the 4G wimax infrastructure if they want in on the networking side too. (or AT&T, but I think AT&T currently doesn’t has any plans on building a Wimax network)
streak: For a control freak like AT&T, things have worked out pretty well for Apple. But still, if Apple bought the 700 MHz spectrum, it would make them even /more/ of a phone company than they currently /are/.
