Gateway apes the aluminum iMac: meet the Gateway One

CommodusPC maker Gateway today fired a salvo at Apple with a new all-in-one home desktop that bears strong design similarities with the recently introduced aluminum iMac. Called simply the One, it has a metal shell, a black front, and scads of Bluetooth and 802.11 wireless. Sound familiar? Gateway claims it’s not a copy… right.[…] Thanks to Commodus for providing this nice story on Digg.

What other users say about this:

azprofessional: Hey fanboys get a room!

jsp317: All is fair in love and war. They are at war and i love it. Just look at all the goodies we have available. I’m on my PC right now but i love my imac g5.

macamatition: It looks like an iMac with down syndrom.

yongmuller: Gateway is still making PCs? I could have sword they were residing in the “where are they now?” file.

Herolint: The hardware is only half the reason to buy an Apple computer, the OS is the other. Running Windows on Apple hardware seems a lot like being impotent. Sure, you have a penis, but you can’t do anything with it.

radikul: Like this hardly matters. Take a look at whose stock is kicking ass.

flydaddyophus: Although Apple inspired, I like the way it looks

But its still running Windows

supreme0armor: I, personally, have always been fond of these little guys for some reason…maybe because they remind me of the CyberDecks in Shadowrun ( Genesis, not 360!!! ), running the “Pre-Matrix” Matrix… ahh… memories…

marcamillion: Ughh…it is designs like this that make Apple truly shine. This is absolutely horrendous.

Guess sales will further surge after this reaches retail shelves. Am not even an apple fanboy and I know this looks horrible.

zpjet: um. “features 3MB DDR2 memory”. now, that’s really something. can vista run on it?

flamebot: i kinda like it

PaulPinfield: I guess there are lots of Mac heads on this thread (including me), but even so, I can’t help laughing my cock off…

This machine is way better looking but most other PCs, but to me, this is a case of putting lipstick on a pig… No matter how you dress up WinXP / Vista, a pig is a pig is a pig…

brotherfranciz: Why is everyone complaining about the Apple rip-off? Everyone does it – “imitation is the sincerest form of flattery”. Basically, Apple has shaken up the market, other companies have spotted this and have FINALLY decided that the design and development team is actually worth the money to hire… seriously, the industry should follow Apple’s footsteps: at the end of the day, it’s great for the consumer – our PC can actually look somewhat attractive now… it’s not just a grey box any more.

ACMoxon: Copy Apple design all you want — you still can’t match its elegance and beauty.
